Bethesda Mission Announces Christmas Plans
Bethesda Mission will once again host a traditional Christmas Day Dinner for the community. The meal will feature baked ham with pineapple glaze, roast turkey, whipped potatoes, seasoned corn, applesauce, rolls and butter, dessert and beverages. The dinner will be held at the Men’s Shelter, located at 611 Reily Street, Harrisburg, and run from 4:30 – 6:00pm. Anyone in need is encouraged to join us for this meal and fellowship during this time.
“Christmas is a season of celebration, and Christmas Day should be special. However, many people in our community are alone or in need, and the celebrations enjoyed by others just make them feel worse. Bethesda Mission is a haven of peace and celebration open to all who would like to join us for Christmas Dinner,” stated Chuck Wingate, executive director of the Mission.
In all, nearly 50 volunteers will be involved in making sure that those who visit with us for Christmas will have some good memories. Those unable to physically come to the Mission will be able to have a meal delivered to their homes (within a five-mile radius of the Mission). If they need a meal, they are to call 257-4440, by Tuesday, December 22nd, to be included on the schedule. An operator will take the necessary information to insure the delivery of the meal.

Thursday, December 24th
Christmas Eve:
- 4:00 – 5:30pm – Turkey Dinner with all the trimmings provided and served by the Hilton Harrisburg. (Note: Christmas gifts will be given to our soup line guests after they finish their meal.)
Friday, December 25th
Christmas:
- 9:00am – Community-donated gifts are distributed to our clients by the executive director and the staff.
- 4:30 -6:00pm – Christmas dinner served to the community.
